Idea: Tinkerbell Wings?

My new crafty itch is because my daughter is in love with Tinkerbell.

There's this new movie that came out, "The Secret of the Wings" and she just loves it.
She loves that Tinkerbell has a sister, and that their wings are magic together, she loves it all.

So here it is:
(and a great shot of Tinkerbell's wings)

I just really really want to find a way to make my daughter some wings of her own!
She was Tinkerbell for Halloween back when she was a baby:

But I just made her wings out of some pantyhose and wire, and they're not exactly a replica of Tinkerbell's wings... and my daughter is a stickler for the details.
(Oh the charms of having a perfectionist princess for a daughter)

:o)

SO
I was looking online the other day, and I saw these wings someone made on Etsy or somewhere:

And I thought, with some adjustments and a new design, I could probably make those myself, right? It can't be that hard. It just looks like some twisting.
And cutting. And ... ironing? Heating? Hmm time to read some more articles.
I just need the right materials... right?

So I've been doing some research and all I need is this fantasy film stuff and probably some wire.
Ideally, I wish I could do it with cut aluminum but I just don't know if I have the right tools to be cutting big sheets of aluminum.

(Somewhere in an alternate universe, I am currently hunched over my work bench with a wicked mask, a sheet of aluminum, some clamps and a laser in my hand...)

I'll let you know if I end up figuring this out.

Maybe I'll make me some wings too (but bigger) so that we can play together.

Chore Chart

I wanted to make a chore chart for my kids but nothing was working.
Finally, I came up with this one - drew the little pictures, refurbished a cookie sheet that was headed to the trash, and the kids love it.

They move a button to the check mark if they complete the task for the day, and then if they complete 5 things they get a sticker on their card.
Once they get a full card of stickers (9) then they can redeem it for things that are fun.
(See the purple area, and the bottom row on the chore chart, and the few things up by the title)
They can also earn extra points by putting extra buttons on the 'optional' things in the middle row.
My son is a pro at cleaning the toilet.

Cardboard Forts

Because WHY NOT!
I made this cardboard house (with secret entrance on the side) from the boxes from our move to our new place. It was up for my daughter's birthday party, and the kids had a blast playing in it.
Her birthday was a costume party, which was so much fun.

We love making forts out of cardboard.

Clay Princes and Princesses

My daughter wanted all of the princesses dancing with their princes on her birthday cake one year, and I looked everywhere for some figurines - but after I couldn't find any, I ended up just making some myself, out of polymer clay.

I set them up so they would be 'dancing' while they were together:

But they could be standing alone too:
(Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Snow White, Aurora, and Belle)

From this project I realized I didn't know all of the prince's names!
Charming (but what is his first name?), Flynn Rider aka Eugene, Eric, "Prince" (in the stories his name is Prince Valient, but they never mention his actual name. This is sad to me... why do the men have to be shallow in their stories? Ok, putting away my soap box...), Phillip, and Adam (the Beast).

Funny Lunch Notes

Sometimes I like to make funny notes to go in my son's lunch - sometimes it's just a plain sticky note, but sometimes it's something like this:

He had to peel off the sandwich layers to read the message.

Cake Stand

I made this cake stand a while back because I didn't have one at the time, and I wanted to see if I could make a good one!

Pom Pom Critters

I've been making pom pom critters for the class my husband and I teach on Sunday.

Here are some snowmen I made:

And some more critters:

I made my daughter a poofy spider to wear in her hair on Halloween - and now, she loves wearing it to school because she loves to scare the boys. :o)
